Year: 2023

Welcome Steph and Jingchao to the Loo Lab!

Steph Brown and Jingchao Qin have joined the Loo Lab as PhD students in Chemical Engineering at UW—Madison! Steph will be developing reactive block copolymer compatibilizers for recycling waste plastics and Jingchao will be studying polypeptoid based polymers for directed self-assembly and nanolithography. Welcome Steph and Jingchao! Head over to the people page to learn …

Whitney named Conway Assistant Professor

Professor Loo was named a Conway Assistant Professor in the Chemical and Biological Engineering Department at UW—Madison! Last week we celebrated this achievement with an Investiture Ceremony. Congrats Professor Loo! Whitney receiving her certificate from Department Chair Eric Shusta. Whitney and her graduate students, Jenny and Marissa, speaking with UW—Madison alums.

Loo Lab Open House

Renovations are finally complete and our lab is officially open! We celebrated with balloons and lab tours led by Jenny and Marissa. We thank the Chemical and Biological Engineering Department for the great turnout!

Cole Presented at 2023 Poster Session

Cole presented at the REU Poster Session in August where he talked about his work on polymer blend electrolytes. Over the course of the summer he learned to make blends, synthesize polymers and more! We enjoyed having him with us this summer and wish him the best of luck as he starts his Junior year …

First group poster presentation in lab open house!

Jenny and Marissa showcased our current and future research during our Visiting Weekend for prospective graduate students this past spring semester. The first group poster presentation was a huge success!

New paper out now in ACS Macro Letters!

Loo Lab welcomes Marissa and Jenny!

The Loo Lab welcomes two new graduate students: Marissa Gallmeyer and Jenny Wu!

New publication out in ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces

Check out Professor Loo’s latest publication in ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces! This study demonstrates how defect free directed self-assembly of block copolymers can be achieved with only “off the shelf” materials with an increased process window.
